Who are we ?
LV, or Liverpool Victoria, was founded in 1843 when it sold only simple life insurance policies known as “penny policies”. Over the next two centuries, the insurer grew significantly and added home, travel, pet and auto insurance to its product line.
The provider also offers investment products, pensions and annuities, and equity release.
LV motor insurance policies are underwritten by Liverpool Victoria Insurance Company, which is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

Why should I consider LV?
LV offers motor vehicle liability, third party liability, fire and theft insurance, as well as multi-risk automobile insurance policies, depending on the level of cover required.
All comprehensive car insurance policies come standard with cover for windscreen repair and replacement, accidental damage cover and cover for keys and locks. Automotive legal fees, rental car coverage, increased personal accident coverage, and breakdown coverage can also be added to policies at an additional cost.
LV also offers multi-car insurance and electric car insurance.
Finally, LV’s car insurance policies are rated five stars by Defaqto.

How to find the best coverage for you
When comparing auto insurance policies, affordability will be one of the most important factors to consider, but it shouldn’t be the only one. Choosing the cheapest auto insurance policy available doesn’t necessarily mean you have enough coverage and could put you at risk of being underinsured.
Always check each policy’s level of cover to see what’s included as standard and what you may need to pay extra for. Running multiple quotes with different add-ons can help you determine which policy is the most cost effective overall.
Choosing a more expensive policy that offers everything you need will work better for your pocket in the long run if you need to make a claim.
Why it makes sense to compare products and suppliers
Auto insurers have traditionally offered their most competitive prices to new customers, while those who have remained loyal to their insurer year after year have generally paid more.
However, new FCA rules introduced in January 2022 mean that car (and home) insurance companies can no longer charge existing customers more for their renewal than they would charge a new customer for the equivalent policy.
Despite this, it still pays to shop around for your car insurance each year to ensure you get the right level of coverage at the most competitive price.
It’s also a good idea to check customer reviews on sites like Trustpilot to see how existing policyholders rate their coverage and customer service. Defaqto also awards stars to car insurers, which can be a good indication of the service they provide.
